Arirang Talk Terms of Service (English)

Effective 2026-09-05. This is a demo-stage draft; legal review is required before launch. Personal data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Agreement

You must agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy on the sign-up screen to create an account. The Terms apply from the moment you agree.

Accounts

One account per person, for users aged 14 or older. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity under your account. Your name and ID cannot be changed later; you can delete the account at any time (More → Delete account).

The service

Chat (1:1 and groups), photos, automatic translation, the marketplace and part-time job boards, and directions are provided free of charge. Translation uses external AI engines or on-device translation and is not guaranteed to be accurate — check the original text for contracts, wages, safety and other important matters. The service may change or be discontinued; we try to announce important changes in the app.

Messages and translation data

Messages are stored on the server for delivery and translation (no end-to-end encryption); photos are deleted after 7 days. With server-side translation, message text is sent to the translation engine; on-device translation never leaves your device. Source text, translations and feedback from translation requests are used to improve translation quality — building and reviewing the phrase dictionary, domain glossaries (workplace safety, employment contracts, etc.) and the translation cache. By agreeing to these Terms you agree to this use; we minimise personally identifying information in the process. Chat backups you save on your device are not stored by the service.

Your obligations

No illegal content or transactions, fraud, hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, spam or unauthorised collection of others' personal data. Marketplace and job posts, and any resulting transactions or employment terms, are the responsibility of the people involved; the service is not a party to them. Violations may lead to warnings, removal of posts, restrictions or account deletion.

Rights

The service, app, logo, design and translation dictionaries belong to the operator. You own what you write and upload, and you grant the operator the right to use it as needed to run the service (store, deliver, display, translate) and to improve translation quality as described above.

Limitation of liability

The service is free and provided "as is". To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for translation errors, outages, data loss or disputes between users, nor for failures caused by events beyond its control (network failures, third-party translation engines, force majeure).

Termination and changes

You may delete your account at any time; messages you sent remain attributed to "Deleted user". The operator may restrict or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Changes to the Terms are announced in the app (important changes 7 days in advance where possible); continued use after the effective date means acceptance.

Governing law and contact
